Google plus for local website marketing is a very easy and convenient way to get some free website traffic!

How To Use Google Plus For Business?

Google Plus is a social network that was launched in June 2011. Over the years, the number of active users have grown significantly.

Your profile on Google Plus is visible publicly. So what ever information you include in your profile can be seen by people all over the world.

One of the benefits of the Google plus social platform is that you can organize people into circles. So what ever you share within that circle will be shown to people who are in it. For example: You can create circles for your work colleagues, friends, and family. You can share all kinds of things such as texts, photos, links, videos etc.

There are a few ways that your business can benefit from Google Plus.

1) Use profile to display website links

If you have a few websites that you create content for, then you can use your public profile to list your websites. There is a section that says ‘Contributor To’ and ‘Links’.

2) Promote your articles on your profile

It’s a bit like facebook. You include a link to an article and update your status! Do the same with Google Plus. Once you have finished writing a blog article, you can post this link on your profile and write something on your status to encourage people to click on the link.

If you are targeting a specific keyword, you can enclose the keyword with asterisks to make it bold. Google loves this and it’s good for SEO purposes. The below example shows a link about a review of natural deodorants on someone’s profile. The keyword ‘Natural Deodorants that WORK!’ is in BOLD!.

Note: It is recommended that you only post once a day otherwise Google might see you as spamming.

3) Encourage Engagement

Google Plus Share

Google Plus has a features include:

  • +1 button for people to click on if they like or agree with your post
  • The arrow button for sharing your post to others
  • A comment section for people to reply to your posts

The more people who like, share, and comment on your post, the better! You can do the same to others to encourage engagement on Google Plus. The more you do this for others, the more chances that people would return the favor.

4) Google Plus Communities

Google plus communities is a great feature of this social network platform. It was released in December 2012, and allows users to create engagement and sharing about topics of interest. You can either create your own community or join someone else’s community.

Google plus communities is basically google’s version of a group or forum. When you join some communities, be sure to read the rules! Some groups do not allow you to blatantly promote yourself! The community is there to share ideas, relevant content, and help each other out to encourage conversations within the community.

Google plus communities is awesome for learning all kinds of things about your niche and gather ideas for your content writing. You can meet other members who share the same interest, and naturally build your Google plus following too.

Some tips on using google plus communities to encourage engagement:

  • When posting things in these communities, treat it like a letter. Eg. Hi folks, just wondering what you guys think of this…etc. Doing this will likely give you a better response!
  • Engage with 10 other members’ post BEFORE you post your own. Then comment on 3 other posts before you post again.
  • Ask questions or polls.
  • Be polite when posting and commenting.
  • Don’t post affiliate links because people don’t want to be sold to. You can post pages or articles that contain affiliate links though.

Consider Creating Your Own Community

If you can’t find an appropriate community to join, there are benefits to creating your own community. But you can not just leave it alone and expect others to start joining your community. It needs to be promoted too. This can be done by inviting others to join your community, especially if you have a good number of followers already.

Having your own community allows you to set the rules, and have more control of what goes into the community. You can even ban other members if they are posting inappropriate things in your community. You can build up your own brand to create awareness among your community.

Google Plus is still a very useful social network platform for your business even though it’s only launched a few years ago. It may not be as popular as other social media platforms at the moment, but who knows what will happen in the next few years. 1. Hi, Teresa. Thanks for that. I have a Google plus account, but hardly ever check it and had no idea that it could be used the way you show here. Thanks for sharing your knowledge on this and I’ll certainly be tapping into the power of google plus from now on. Cheers.

  2. Hi Eoinmc, I think a lot of people have a Google plus account, but are not really using it that’s all. As people become more aware of how Google plus can benefit their own business, then I believe there will be more active users in the future.
