When you hear the word ‘Blog‘, what’s the first thing that comes to your mind? For me, I think about people sharing about their personal interest to the world.
Some people keep a food blog to show off the unique or interesting dishes that they have come across during their travels. There are also people who blog about their personal journey through certain stages in their life such as pregnancy stages, exercise regimen for weight loss, and healthy eating journey.
But when it comes to business, is blogging worth it? There is a term called ‘content marketing’.

Blogs are very easy to start. If you already have an online business, it is best to include a blog to help optimize your website so that people can eventually find your business.

When ever you create a new blog post, you are basically adding content! Google loves CONTENT!
If your blog articles contain original content that is not copied from anywhere else, Google is more likely to rank your site on certain keywords used in your content.
The more frequent you write or create content on your blog, the more updated your website is, and the higher your website will be ranked. Eventually people will be able to find you online.
Keyword research is very important when it comes to writing blog content for marketing your online business. I highly recommend the keyword research tool called JAAXY. You would generally be looking for low competition keywords, especially if you have a new blog website. Use long tail keywords in your keyword research and blog content so that you will target a certain audience.
For example, rather than use the word “recipes”, which is a very broad term and would be a highly competitive keyword. Use something like “recipes for diabetics”, “recipes for vegans”, or “recipes for chocolate lovers” etc.
Blogging is good for search engine optimization (SEO)
It takes time and effort to create blog content, but it is essential for any online business.
If you have an online store, you can’t just leave it there without doing any work and expect people to be able to find you. Adding a blog to your online store or company website will keep the content fresh and updated.
It is a free way of building up the rank of your website so that people can eventually find you “organically”.
The downside of blogging is that it takes time, perhaps between 3 – 6 months, before you see some results. You can track your website visitors with Google Analytics and integrate Google Webmaster Tools to find out what search terms people are using to find your blog posts.
Blogging is a great way to build your brand awareness and get people interacting with you through commenting on your blog posts. Comments are good for SEO. The more comments you get from website visitors, the better!

Content marketing is a highly effective strategy to build up your brand and get your products/services exposed to an audience.
